Johannesburg, South Africa (March 2018). – The Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival has announced that local airline, Mango will be its official aviation partner for this year’s Mr Gay World competition. The airline is perfectly positioned to fly guests in and out the neighbouring city airport, in George on the picturesque coast of the Western Cape in South Africa. For a second time, Knysna will host the four-day long celebration enjoyed by the LGBTQ community. This is also a third opportunity for the Rainbow Nation to be the host country.
The festival now in its 18th year, will take place from Thursday 24 May to Sunday 27 May 2018, with the crowning moment of Mr Gay World 2018 to be held at the luxurious Villa Castollini in Knysna.
Benediction Zubane, Head of Marketing at Mango says he is excited at the prospect of hosting international delegates, contestants and judges on-board. “As an innovative airline, we are always looking for new ways to connect with our Guests. Since a lot of these travellers will be from countries around the world, we are keen to see how we compare to our global airline peers. We believe that Mango will stand out for a litany of reasons; topping the list are our various payment options, including a retail store card; as well as 20kgs of free checked baggage, and our perfectly positioned hotel and car hire partners. And above all our commitment to offering the best value for money on all our 8 routes, including Zanzibar.”
John O’Neil, Pink Loerie festival organiser, says, “We are looking forward to hosting the festival, which includes dance and music, creating a platform for artists, performers and singers to express themselves without limitations in an accepting and inclusive environment. Daily shows will be held at various locations throughout the town. Floats will add colour and glitter to the event while the Mr Gay World 2018 will see young men from all over the world compete for one prestigious title.”
The association with Mango is something O’Neil says he is proud about, “Without the generosity of Mango Airlines and all our other wonderful sponsors, we would not be able to host such a world class event.”
Zubane concludes, “Hosting the LGBTQ guests is our way of introducing them to the superb hospitality we known for on Mango.” The trade-mark orange airline operates a fleet of new generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a seating capacity of 186 per aircraft. Benchmarked against international best practice in the low cost carrier sectors, Mango continues to operate with better legroom experience for maximum comfort for guests in the South African skies.
